Empower Pak Welfare Organization started this Disability Inclusion and Resource Centre from June 15th, 2015 in a rented building in Nawan Shehr, Abbottabad.
The Organization is purely non-governmental, non-profiting and non-political Organization working for the vast welfare of the persons with disability in general and visually impaired in particular without any discrimination of caste, color, creed, culture, sect and religion or community discrimination as per provisions of VSWA (R&C) Ordinance 1961 and rules made there under.

So far Provided Services:
In continuation of its set goals, the Resource Centre conducted a basic braille training for Mansehra district in which those 20 students without braille skill were trained how to adopt this medium in their studies.
The centre has successfully prepared and embossed updated KP textbook board syllabus up to seventh class and intends to reach tenth class by March 2022 to ensure the preparation of visually impaired students’ Inclusion in general education schools. In this connection with collaboration with D.E.O male and D.E.O female different awareness sessions and trainings have been conducted in which more than 100 male/female teachers and principals from general education participated.
English braille , Urdu braille, Arabic and Mathematics braille courses along with computer training with screen reader software for visually impaired students is the basic component of resource centre.
So far, more than 200 blind students of different grades have received these trainings.
The centre has provided textbooks in braille to govt. institute Abbottabad, private school Lighthouse and Govt. Institute Mardan. Twenty blind students have been provided braille books of their individual need up to class 12.
More than 250 pwds have been identified and their disability certificates were made possible. Similarly more than 250 computers/laptops were enabled with jaws and other accessible software.
30 blind students have been provided matric to M.a. syllabus and other relevant books in mp3 and soft format.
300 blind applicants have been provided white canes and other braille equipments.
Way Forward:
To ensure inclusion of visually impaired students in general education, the number of blind students will be speedily increased to get admission in class sixth in different male and female Govt.High Schools of the district for which they will be provided complete set of textbooks in braille along with braille equipments.
Because of the extensive mobilization efforts of our team, the centre succeeded to import latest braille embosser from Sweden in 2017 which is the first ever braille printing machine in the province. But now we intend to double our embossing capacity by purchasing one more embosser to focus on the provision of other than textbooks from the list of Abbottabad public library and establish complete braille section in the Abbottabad Public Library for which an agreement has been made with higher education.
Regular comprehensive Braille, English Language and Computer Trainings will be started in which three credit hour classes will be conducted five days a week.
It is planned that the disability certificate holders would be supported in getting special computerized national identity cards to enable them avail the various services for persons with disabilities.
Textbook board and education ministry along with different universities will be approached to make available their textual material in electronic and other accessible formats.
Social welfare deptt is also proposed to take on board and Resource Centre is offering the training services for capacity building of its govt. Blind Institutes. Training on Embosser Operating and other braille equipments is also scheduled for blind institutes subject to the agreement of social welfare deptt.
Female blind students are the special target of resource centre for which social welfare dept. has been approached to establish an institute in Abbottabad . the centre offers to help the social welfare dept in enrollment, training of both students and staff. Efforts will be continued to convince the dept to establish blind institute for girls in Abbottabad.
